It was a beloved job turning nasty for me. I had taken the decision to move on. And I painted it. You can see in the post’s proto what a decision to move on for my mental health look like when it is put in an image: cold colors, sharp points. Making a point.
But let me start from the beginning.
I have difficulty expressing my feelings and emotions openly. The reasons are many, I know for sure they are the same as for many of you: survival tactic and safety, discomfort to admit having emotions; shame from wanting better for yourself from life instead of settling, disagreeing with the parts that don’t resonate. And so on, you name it.
So I needed an outlet to express myself safely and to give visibility to what I feel so I can process is better.
That’s when my healing art journey began.
I started drawing mandalas. Remember that first set of pencils and a sketchbook my husband had gifted me?
Then on, I shifted to coloring page mandalas, my set of coloring supplies started to grow. Then it was pyrography, and now I’m enlarging to acrylic painting.
The common in all of these tools and techniques are the meanings and feelings that every shape and color represents. They have officially assigned interpretations, and then again, you can assign them your own meanings and symbolism according to the way they resonate with your emotions.
In Re-Art Your Life, I apply a combination of two approaches to the artistic healing/transformation journey.
One is healing as such. Working with shapes, colors and different media that speak to you. You use the colors and shapes to draw your emotions, the question or issue we work on, your thoughts that you can’t or don’t want to put in words. So that you can clearly see and safely feel through it all, and work towards clarity, acknowledgment and transformation.
And second, manifestation. Here you use the same approach but to visualize the desired outcome. Be it your dream or goal, your state of clarity and how it should feel to you; a vision board of your desired new situation or new life on your terms altogether. So that at any moment you can look at your manifestation art piece and remember the Point B of your journey, to be able to immediately remember how it feels to have your clarity, implemented dreams and re-arted life as you want it to be.
